The 2nd Annual Hollywood Beauty Awards (HBAs) took place on February 21, 2016, honoring the behind-the-scenes beauty professionals who craft the most iconic looks in film, television, music, and editorial. The event benefited Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and was hosted by radio personality Lisa Stanley, with a red carpet that welcomed stars and glam squads alike.
The evening was filled with star power. Johnny Depp presented the Fragrance of the Year award to Pamela Baxter, President and CEO of LVMH Perfumes & Cosmetics.
Melanie Griffith was honored with the Timeless Beauty Award, presented by her longtime friend Jon Voight.
Heidi Klum was in attendance to support her hairstylist Wendy Iles, who received the Kathryn Blondell Award for Hairstyling. Kelly Osbourne was also on hand to celebrate the artists shaping beauty across industries.
A host of other celebrities participated as presenters and attendees, including Orlando Jones, Tamara Taylor, Jackée, Rick Baker, Dr. Charles Elachi, Alex Meneses, Jose Moreno Brooks, Nicole Williams, Sophia Pierson, and Angie Harmon, each lending their voice in support of the industry’s top talents.
Award winners included Kiyah Wright, who received the Sterfon Demings Award for Hairstyling, recognized for her work with clients such as Tyra Banks and Ciara. Wendy Iles, known for styling stars like Marion Cotillard and Cate Blanchett, received the Kathryn Blondell Award for Hairstyling. In the makeup categories, the Mike Smithson Award went to John Stapleton, noted for his work with MAC Cosmetics and Kelly Osbourne. The Laini Thompson Award for Makeup was presented to both Derrick Rutledge, a celebrated artist for Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey, and Mylah Morales, known for her work with Rihanna and Keke Palmer.
Jeff Kravitz received the Norman Seeff Award for Photography, recognized for capturing countless iconic moments for major music and media brands. Pamela Baxter was honored once again with Fragrance of the Year, and Melanie Griffith’s impact in the industry was acknowledged through the Timeless Beauty Award.
The 2016 Hollywood Beauty Awards celebrated not only excellence in beauty and design, but also the personal and professional bonds shared between celebrities and their creative teams. The ceremony continued its mission of elevating the artists who turn vision into reality on red carpets and screens around the world.
