About Beverly Jo Pryor:
Currently designing makeup for FOX’s hit drama “Empire,” Beverly has created looks for “Hidden Figures,” “Selma,” “Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” “Ali,” and “Roll Bounce” to name a few. She has also worked on a variety films such as “After Earth,” “Freedom Writers,” “Baggage Claim,” “Something New,” “Big Momma’s House,””Barbershop,” “Fat Albert” and ” Straight Outta Compton,” as well as hit TV series: “Sister, Sister,” “Vampire Diaries,” TNT’s “Leverage,” and “Ugly Betty.”
Beverly was nominated for a 2014 Critics Choice Awards for Best Makeup on Lee Daniel’s “The Butler” and was a 2015 Recipient of the NYWIFT Lifetime Achievement Award.
She is currently nominated for a MUAHS Guild award for Best Contemporary Makeup on “Empire.”

Academy Award and Emmy winner JOEL HARLOW will receive the Outstanding Achievement in Special Effects Makeup on February 19th, 2017 at Avalon Hollywood.

About Joel Harlow:
One of Hollywood’s most innovative special effects makeup artists, Joel has worked with Johnny Depp for the past eight years on films such as the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” “Into The Woods,” Black Mass,” “The Lone Ranger” and many more. Among his many accolades, Joel won an Academy Award for JJ Abrams’ “Star Trek,” a Critic’s Choice Award for “Alice in Wonderland,” as well as Primetime Emmy Awards for Stephen King’s “The Stand” and “The Shining.”
Recently wrapped on the X-Men tenth installment, “Logan,” Joel is preparing to work on the Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated “Black Panther.”

K-EARTH 101’s radio star Lisa Stanley emceed the beautiful black-tie gala at Avalon Hollywood. The HBAs bring long overdue recognition to Celebrity Makeup Artists, Hairstylists, Photographers, and more in film/television and on the red carpet.
The night kicked off with Johnny Depp presenting the 2016 Fragrance of the Year Award to Pamela Baxter (President/CEO LVMH Perfumes & Cosmetics, President of Christian Dior Couture) for Dior’s SAUVAGE.
Tamara Taylor (“Bones”) and Jackée (“227,” “Sister, Sister”) presented an Outstanding Achievement In Hairstyling Award to Sterfon Demings. Kathryn Blondell received her Outstanding Achievement In Hairstyling Award from Angie Harmon (“Rizzoli & Isles”). Orlando Jones (“Sleepy Hollow”) gave a heart-felt speech to Laini Thompson, for her Outstanding Achievement in Makeup. Rick Baker (7-time Oscar winning Makeup Artist) presented the Outstanding Achievement In Special Effects Makeup to Mike Smithson and Dr. Charles Elachi (NASA’s Director of JPL) presented to Norman Seeff for his Outstanding Achievement In Photography. Dr. Jason B. Diamond received the Beauty Enhancement Award from his dear friend and actress, Rebecca Gayheart.
